VISITING THE FACILITY

Learn about the Community

Before your interview, contact the local Chamber of Commerce and/or the Convention Centers and Visitors Bureau. They can provide you with information about the demographics and economy of the area as well as the variety of cultural and recreational resources available.

Contact a realtor

Contacting a Realtor is a good idea, even if you don't plan to buy property right away. They can introduce you to neighborhoods, answer questions about schools, and assist with issues related to your relocation. If your spouse or significant other has accompanied you on your site visit, they can begin researching the community while you are engaged in interview related activities.

Ask about local organizations

You can also gain valuable information about the community through civic and religious organizations. Try to make phone contact with representatives from a religious congregation you might consider joining or a civic organization like the Rotary, Lions, Optimists, etc. Then, when you do relocate, they can help you develop your social and community interests outside of your professional circle.
